Artist Research: Car Series

Today i had a class critique and the feedback were positive and constructive. The artist's that i got given to look at were Fiona Jack and Tracey Moffat.
Fiona Jack
For Nothing

I really like her artwork when it comes to scale and position where she put her artwork all around auckland city for her final year when she studied at AUT.

Tracey Moffat

I really like this idea and concept that Tracey Moffat has for her artwork. How she captions her images that she has taken and the expressions of the subjects.

Something that i am interested in putting into my own work. Having to add captions to my images will be useful to be put in at the end of the illustrations.

What Worked?
The captions to the images work for me because it helps me to understand the image more.

What Didn't?
Having captions in the images limits the viewer with their thoughts and ideas of what they think about the images.

What Next?
When i do the next photoshoot to my car series il add in some captions to define the situation in my illustration.

Movie Research

This research is based on videos that i was looked into and created ideas that inspired me. Creating narratives and making stories of people in the car that relate to me and the community.

Movie
Christine

I really like the idea of this and how the car kills people is more common to controlling the people in the car and thats my role in what i am trying to achieve in my artwork. The idea that this movie has really inspire me to connect with my subjects in this car series.

Advert
Dad Drives like this

Once i saw this advert i automatically wanted to do similar ideas but instead of moving image i wanted to illustrate them. I really like the concept/idea behind this advert it creates narrative that people in new zealand can relate too.

Short Film
Two Cars One Night

This short film has to be the most relatable moving image in New Zealand that i love. From the concept to the dialog in the short film is just accurate.

Illustrations: Fathers Day

After the video shoot i went straight into editing the photos of my brother and nephew for Fathers Day. I really like the final outcome of the illustrations and decided to do 2 more images to complete this part of the series. i really enjoyed doing this with my family.

What worked?
The rain really gave it texture and volume in the background. Which highlighted the illustration of my brother and my nephew.

What Didn't Work?
The glass window in the front made it hard for me to illustrate and see the images, but besides that when i illustrated them it looked like there was no glass.

What Next?
I will be uploading another two more images and also adding captions to define my illustration car series.

Photoshoot: Fathers Day

This photoshoot was based around my brother and his son for fathers day. Because of the weather it limited my options on how i could take the photo. After this process il be illustrating the chosen images to use for my showing on Monday for the class.

What Worked?
I really like the fact that my nephew and brother wanted to take photos today, even though it was raining it was perfect to capture these moments on fathers day.

What Didn't Work?
Because it rained today it made it hard for me to get good photos and the lighting is not well enough but it will do.

What Next?
Will re-do the photos when the weather is better.
